Plenary Session - The Wheelchair Provision Process

Best practice is a term we hear often.  Continued review of best practices is a critical part of any organization or individual who strives for excellence in their field.

In this interactive session, we will explore best practices in our profession for the health outcomes of our wheelchair users and the health of our industry. It is easy to defend dated practices with which we are comfortable, but the result is a compromise in the level of excellence in providing someone with a mobility device.

During this interactive session, we will hear from a cross-disciplinary panel representative of our industry about best practices in seating and mobility.  As we all are aware, best practices support decision-making and clinical reasoning in the complex intervention of providing someone with an appropriate mobility device.  One of the practices that will be shared is the intentional effective transfer of skills from a seasoned therapist to a newer therapist.

Panelists will be sharing their experiences in order to engage the audience in sharing their best practices and challenges. The objective is to develop practical solutions attendees can take back to their respective communities, facilities, and businesses. You are invited to come up with 1 best practice to share during the discussion time of the session that has advanced your seating and mobility interventions or processes.
